Hands up if you’ve been dreaming of starting a lifestyle blog.
I don’t blame you.
Blogging for a living is the best job out there, and lifestyle blogs are hugely popular as they promote a certain way of life or hobby while adding a personal touch.
However, although the possibilities of a lifestyle blog are endless, you find yourself getting stuck at the first hurdle – coming up with your perfect lifestyle blog name.
Getting the perfect blog name isn’t easy.
You feel pressured, knowing that your lifestyle blog name will dictate the entire direction of your site and will be the first thing that brands and other industry contacts see when you’re pitching for gifted products and sponsored content.
That’s a pretty terrifying thought, right?
Not so fast.
It’s easy to overthink your lifestyle blog name, to the point where you end up giving up before you’ve even started!
You shouldn’t be so scared though.
There are plenty of ways to make choosing that perfect lifestyle blog name a walk in the park.
Plus, although having a good name for your blog is important, it isn’t the be all and end all.
Ultimately, your blog name isn’t going to be the decider in whether or not your blog is successful – that all depends on your content, your branding, the way you promote yourself…you get the gist.
After creating countless blogs (and currently running 3 successful sites), I’ve had my fair share of experience when it comes to choosing lifestyle blog names, and I promise you that it really doesn’t have to be that difficult.
In this post, I’ve put together my best tips for naming a lifestyle blog, and I’ve also created a list of lifestyle blog names that are currently available for you to snap up or use as inspiration for your own blog.
Are you ready?
Then let’s get into it.
Top Tips for Choosing the Perfect Lifestyle Blog Name
Top tips for naming a lifestyle blog
Brainstorm
Start by getting out a notepad and pen and brainstorming words that you might want to include in your lifestyle blog name.
Begin by writing out everything that you will talk about on your blog, as well as words that you associate with those topics.
For example, if your blog is going to be about gardening, then you may also write down adjectives such as keen, crafty, and millennial – the Millennial Gardener sounds pretty good to me!
You can also use a thesaurus to search for words such as ‘brave’ or ‘strong’ and find tonnes of useful synonyms for those words.
The goal here is to have as many words as possible that can be used in as many combinations as possible.
Don’t be trying to come up with whole blog names at this point – just spit out as many words as possible.
Be niche specific
While ‘lifestyle’ is a niche in itself, you’ll want to get more specific when it comes to choosing your lifestyle blog name.
If you want to build a successful lifestyle blog, it is far better to niche down and write about very closely-linked topics rather than having a general blog where you cover everything that could fall under the ‘lifestyle’ umbrella.
Lifestyle blogs can be about parenting, baking, sustainability, yoga, crafting, finance, fashion, wedding planning…the list goes on.
Choosing a lifestyle blog name that aligns closely with your specific niche and what you want your blog to achieve is not only good for SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), but it will also make it uber clear to your readers who you are and what your blog is about.
For example, if your blog is about fitness, you might write down the following:
- HIIT
- Intermittent fasting
- Keto
- Home workouts
- Juicing
- Meal prep
- 30-day challenges
- Circuit training
- Active wear
- Fitness over 40
- Bodybuilding
Naturally, you will be an expert on 1 or 2 of these smaller sub-topics within your main niche.
This can be a great start in determining what you will name your blog, as you can intertwine those topics with your blog name.
A great example of this is The Fashionable Housewife, whose blog is written for busy moms who want to be fashionable.
Her blog name tells you all you need to know about who she is and what kind of content you can expect to find on her blog, without her (or me) having to spell it out for you.
With that said, only niche down if you are SURE that you want your blog to be about that particular topic.
It’s pointless naming your lifestyle blog Caffeine and Cookies if you plan on giving up coffee and cutting cookies out of your diet.
Likewise, be aware that you won’t be in the same place forever as you are right now – while Twenty and Travelling may sound great right now, you won’t always be 20 years old!
Choose something memorable
The key thing that you need to remember when choosing your lifestyle blog name is that it needs to be something unique, catchy, and memorable.
A name that encompasses all 3 of these things will make you stand out from the crowded world of blogging, and ensure that your readers don’t forget you!
When brainstorming lifestyle blog names, remember to ask yourself whether the name you’re considering is something that stands out.
Literary devices
Some things that can help your lifestyle blog name be more memorable, are literary devices such as rhyming, repetition, alliteration, and plays on words.
Making Sense of Cents is a personal finance blog that utilises 2 of these techniques, and her catchy blog name is part of the reason why her blog is so successful!
World of Wanderlust is an example of a travel and lifestyle blogger who has harnessed the power of these techniques, using alliteration to make her blog name stand out from the crowd.
With that being said, if you’re going to use a play on words or a pun, make sure you aren’t being too clever – you don’t want your readers not understanding the name of your blog!
The Rule of Two
A pretty common way of coming up with a blog name is simply by choosing 2 things that you will talk about on your blog and combining them (bonus points if they alliterate!).
Passport and Pixels, a blog about travel photography, is a great example of this.
Atlas and Boots is another example of an outdoor travel blog that uses the rule of 2.
Choose something easy to spell
When naming your lifestyle blog, don’t choose anything too difficult to spell!
My travel blog is called Travelling Jezebel and NOBODY ever spells ‘Jezebel’ right.
Not only that, but most of my audience comes from the United States, where they spell ‘travelling’ with one L.
When you combine all the people typing ‘jeezebel’ and ‘jezbel’ into the search bar, with the people spelling ‘travelling’ with one L, that’s a lot of traffic I’ve missed out on!
Another piece of advice I would like to point out is not to include any hyphens/dashes, numbers, or spelling irregularities.
A great rule of thumb for this is the Mom Test – if you need to spell it out to your mom, it’s too complicated.
Naming your lifestyle blog checklist
Here are some simple yet essential things to consider when choosing a lifestyle blog name.
- Check that the name is available across all social media channels
- Make sure that the domain name is available with the .com extension. If it isn’t, choose something else.
- Check that somebody in your niche doesn’t have an incredibly similar name. If a new travel blogger called ‘Nomadic Mark’ came along, he would be in Nomadic Matt’s shadow forever. You don’t want that.
- Remember that using your own name as your blog name will make it difficult to sell your site further down the line, and it will also make your site seem less authentic if you plan to hire writers.
Free blog name generators
There are tonnes of free blog name generators out there where you can input a couple of keywords and the tool will spit out blog name ideas for you.
Many people don’t like these tools, and although they do tend to generate repetitive and unremarkable results, they can be good as a starting point when brainstorming lifestyle blog names.
Here are some popular blog name generators:

Securing your perfect lifestyle blog name
Once you’ve settled on a blog name, you’ll need to secure your domain.
This is easy peasy.
I use GoDaddy for all of my domains because it’s super cheap and really straightforward to use.
All you have to do is head to GoDaddy and type your desired lifestyle blog name into the search bar to see if it’s available.
If it is, select ‘make it yours,’ or choose something else if it isn’t.
This should literally take about 5 minutes.
The prices of domains vary, but you can usually secure your domain for a whole year for 99p!
