So, you’re wondering how much do It Works! Distributors really make?
Chances are you’re here because you’ve been approached by an It Works! Global Distributor who has encouraged you to take advantage of an incredible ‘business opportunity.’
It sounds great – who wouldn’t want to make passive income while losing weight and getting fit at the same time?
However, you’ve heard conflicting things about network marketing.
People often compare MLM businesses to pyramid schemes, and you certainly don’t want to fall for some sort of scam!
You also don’t want to be that annoying girl sliding into the DMs of your friends and family members, especially if you’re not going to make any money doing so.
It costs $99 just to sign up as an It Works! Distributor, and that’s without factoring in the $20 you’ll have to pay every month after that for your own It Works! website (to put that into perspective, I pay $6 to host all three of my websites).
This article is here to help.
We’re going to dive into the It Works! opportunity and find out just how lucrative it really is.
Can you make money with It Works! Global?
More to the point, how much do It Works! Distributors really make?
Let’s find out.
How Much Do It Works! Distributors Really Make?
The Facts
What is It Works! Global?
It Works! Global is based in Florida.
It was founded by Mark and Cindy Pentecost in 2001, and as of 2017, it was worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
Before creating It Works!, Mark Pentecost was a public school teacher in Michigan. He worked in a few different multi-level marketing companies before realising that if he wanted to make real money, he should start his own.
It Works! sells a range of skincare and nutritional products, but its flagship product is a body wrap named the ‘Ultimate Body Applicator,’ also known as ‘That Crazy Wrap Thing.’
It Works! claim that their body wrap helps tighten, tone, firm and reduce cellulite, all within 45 minutes.
It Works! also sell supplements for hair, skin, nails, and more, although it should be noted that none of the It Works! products have been evaluated or approved by the FDA.
Is It Works! an MLM?
It Works! is indeed an MLM, or multi-level marketing company (also known as ‘network marketing’).
It Works! do not sell their products in stores.
Instead, products are sold online through their ‘Distributors,’ who purchase the products themselves and create social media content promoting them.
As with any MLM, the Distributors make a commission from selling products and recruiting new people into the company.
Every person an It Works! Distributor recruits becomes part of their downline, and so the more they recruit, the more money they make.
Unlike regular jobs, It Works! Distributors do not receive a salary, or any kind of base pay. They work solely for commission, which isn’t guaranteed.
Pyramid scheme allegations
MLM companies like It Works! often get accused of being illegal pyramid schemes.
I actually conducted a more in-depth analysis of It Works! as a company and found that they do indeed resemble a pyramid scheme in many ways, including the fact that the distributors are the company’s biggest customers, and there is a huge focus on ‘growing a team’ rather than selling products.
However, that’s not what this article is about.
This article is about whether you can actually make money in It Works!, and how much you can expect to earn if you decide to take the plunge.
How to make money with It Works!
According to the It Works! compensation plan, there are several ways that It Works! Distributors can make money.
As mentioned earlier, It Works! Distributors don’t receive a salary.
Instead, they receive commissions for selling It Works! products.
These commission types are called ‘Retail Commission’ and ‘Loyal Customer Commission.’
There is also ‘Team Commission,’ which describes the residual income that trickles up the ranks from the sales generated by the people at the bottom.
The more people you recruit, the more commissions and bonuses you receive.
Recruiting people also increases your rank within the company, meaning higher commission rates.

So, how much do It Works! Distributors really make?
Although there are several ways to make money with It Works!, it isn’t as easy as you think to make a decent income with them.
The vast majority of It Works! Distributors are not making a liveable income, or even an amount that could be considered a worthwhile ‘side hustle’ income.
In order to see how much money It Works! Distributors make, I took a look at their Income Disclosure Statement.
An Income Disclosure Statement is a document that allows us to see exactly how many people are earning money with It Works!, and how much of it they’re making.
The It Works! Income Disclosure shows us that in 2019, of all distributors, 85.94% earned an average of 48 USD per month with It Works!
Only 1.49% of Distributors earned 2009 USD a month, and less than 2% of active It Works! distributors earned above minimum wage.
While the people in that top percentile are making a significant income, the fact that over 98% of people in the company are making less than minimum wage paints a grim picture.
What’s more, these numbers don’t take into account how much it actually costs to be an It Works! Distributor.
How much does it cost to be an It Works! Distributor?
As I just mentioned, the numbers on the IDS do not actually represent take-home profit.
It Works! themselves say that ‘The figures above refer to gross income (total income before any expenses are deducted). The expenses a Distributor incurs in the operation of his or her It Works! business vary widely. Expenses for Distributors can be several hundred or thousands of dollars annually.’
Let’s take a closer look at that for a minute.
‘Expenses for Distributors can be several hundreds or thousands of dollars annually’
The fact that they have to say this makes me think that this is the norm for It Works! Distributors.
So, what do It Works! Distributors have to spend?
- Sign-up fee: $99
- Website fees: $20 per month ($240 per year).
- Renewal fee: $35 annually
- It Works! products: ???
- Other business expenses such as WiFi, phone bill, ring light, gasoline, social media post promotion, other marketing materials: ???
What this means then, is that when you take into account the money spent by distributors, it’s highly likely that most of them are actually losing money.
Remember – most It Works! Distributors are making just $48 a month.
How Much do It Works! Distributors Really Make? | Final Thoughts
The numbers on the It Works! Income Disclosure statement are unfortunately not surprising – no matter which network marketing company you look at, the average earnings are always the same.
This is because, overall, 99.6% of people in MLM companies lose money or make no money due to the way that the business model is structured.
If you read the income disclosure statements for other MLM companies like Isagenix, Monat, or Color Street, you will see similar figures across the board.
It should be obvious by now that here at Not Your Boss Babe, we do NOT recommend joining Beachbody, or any MLM – it isn’t a smart business decision, and the odds are stacked so highly against you that you actually stand a better chance of earning a living as a professional gambler than in a network marketing biz.
